JOHN COURTNEY

John Courtney has a passion for vibrant cities and has been a member of the Heart of the City board for two years.  Born in London, he did his Masters at London School of Economics, MBA at Duke and earned a CFA charter.  John worked for investment banks in London, HK, Tokyo and NY.  In 1998 he co-founded a niche investment bank Kontiki Capital, and in 2001 a boutique property group, Shortland management, focused on CBD Auckland.

Last year, along with his wife Michelle Deery, he joined hotelier, Arnauld Kindt and his wife Sue, to restore one of Auckland's icons and create a new boutique Hotel DeBrett.

TERRY GOULD
Terry has owned several CBD businesses over the past 20 years. In this time he has seen many changes, some for the better some for the worse. More recently Heart of the City has played an important role in raising the level of debate to that of championing a great city starting here in the CBD.

Terry shares these aspirations with Heart of the City and as a sitting board member for this past year has looked to bring his experience with heritage property development and community transport issues to the table. "Heart of the City is doing great work for Auckland and it would be a privilege to continue to be involved."

GARY LANGSFORD
As co-owner and director of two established dealer galleries in Auckland, Gow Langsford Gallery and John Leech Gallery, Gary has long championed public art as a vehicle to generate a world class sense of character in Auckland city.

With over 25 years experience in the fine arts industry he is dedicated to the advocacy and promotion of our city through visual art. It is his aim to continue to bring this commitment and vision to Heart of the City.

ALLAN MATSON
Following a B.Com. and a decade in merchant banking, Allan re-trained as an architect and is currently providing advice on heritage matters. Allan has spent the last five years campaigning for the recognition and protection of the Auckland City's architectural heritage, and is currently on the boards of the Civic Trust (Auckland) Inc and the NZ Historic Places Trust. The identification of heritage in Heart of the City's constitution, as one of its five main areas of responsibility, is consistent with Allan's belief that urban design and heritage are key determinants of a city's competitive edge, and to that end Allan seeks re-election to the Board.
