Auckland Transport’s Parking Strategy Positive Step for City Centre Business

News story
Thursday 28 May 2015
We welcome Auckland Transport’s ongoing commitment to remove earlybird parking in  their recently released Parking Strategy, freeing up more car parking spaces for short term use. This is a positive move to encourage visitation to the city centre, as well as public transport use during the busy peak periods. This is good for business.

We also welcome the news that non-essential contractors permits will no longer be issued. Whilst servicing buildings and businesses in the city centre is critical for business continuity we support transitioning to a fairer system that will see contractors pay for on-street parking. Future plans that will allow contractors, and other users, to pay for parking via yet to be developed technology, similar to other cities overseas, will offer increased value to the parking experience in the city.
