Vaccination mandates by sector and how to verify customers' vaccination status:

My Vaccine Pass mandates apply to employees in hospitality, events, close contact businesses and gyms. Staff must have their first vaccination before 3 December 2021 and be fully vaccinated by 17 January 2022. There are resources available for employers and employees here. To help support discussions between employers and employees, a clinical psychologist has prepared these tips.

We understand there has been a change in Government policy vaccine passes.  While the new Health Order has not yet been published (expected to be this week) if your business uses Vaccine Passes, you will be required to:

Sight the vaccine passes of all customers (except children under 12)
Scan and verify “a reasonable number” of passes using the NZ Pass Verifier App.

There is not yet clarity around how “a reasonable number” is defined.

Mandatory sign-ins are required

All businesses are now required to maintain contract tracing records in line with the Covid-19 Response Act. Tracing is to be maintained at any alert level and the obligation will be on the person responsible for the place or gathering to make sure people can scan or sign in. Failure to do so will result in a fine varying between $300 and $1000. More information is available here.
