Marketing and promotion
From marketing to creating editorial content, here's how we are supporting Albert Street.
A consumer call-to-action: Come and explore Albert Street.
We have created an ‘Explore Albert Street’ video. The aim of the video is to have a clear, heart-warming message for people to come and support businesses in the Albert Street area. The video has played on the Link Bus, during peak commuting times, and is being shared through Facebook and Instagram, targeting people who are in the city centre.
We have also been promoting businesses in the Albert Street area on our consumer website here, in our weekly newsletters and across our social media channels. This includes special editorial content about Albert Street e.g.
A plea to the city centre business community
We are also asking other city centre businesses to show support for their neighbours in Albert Street - find out more.
Advocating on behalf of business
We are asking Auckland Council and the Government to help businesses seriously affected by CRL construction. You may have seen stories about this in the media lately (see recent media coverage here).
We believe it is possible and appropriate to set up a hardship fund. Similar initiatives have been undertaken for other large-scale, long-term projects overseas, including Sydney’s Light Rail project. There are positive signs, with the news that the Mayor has put forward a proposal to Government to consider. We will keep working on this until there is an acceptable solution in place.
