Advocating on behalf of business

We are asking Auckland Council and the Government to help businesses seriously affected by CRL construction. You may have seen stories about this in the media lately (see recent media coverage here).

We believe it is possible and appropriate to set up a hardship fund.  Similar initiatives have been undertaken for other large-scale, long-term projects overseas, including Sydney’s Light Rail project. There are positive signs, with the news that the Mayor has put forward a proposal to Government to consider. We will keep working on this until there is an acceptable solution in place.

Petitioning Parliament to support business

On 1 October 2019 we launched a petition to call for assistance for businesses severely impacted by CRL construction.  After months of urging the Minister of Transport to show human decency and support for businesses severely impacted by City Rail Link construction, we are given no choice but to petition Parliament to seek action.

The petition asks central government to commit, along with Auckland Council, to enable City Rail Link to provide appropriate business disruption support from the project budget. This is an unprecedented situation, with businesses facing a situation way out of their control.  It will need a robust mechanism with clear criteria to ensure fairness. The Hon Nikki Kaye, MP for Auckland Central, will present the petition to Parliament to consider once signatures have been obtained.

We are asking people to show their support and sign this petition.
