May Auckland City Centre Advisory Board update

News story
Tuesday 5 Jun 2018

Here’s a quick wrap up of what was discussed at the most recent ACCAB meeting – of which we are a member and where we provide advice to Council on city projects as well as the allocation of the city centre targeted rate – a special rate funded by city centre business and residents for city centre investment.

  • City Centre Public Art Plan: The plan, which sets out to deliver transformative value for the city centre through public art and defines a framework for selecting art works, was endorsed and will now be put into action, with investment of the targeted rate into public art in line with the plan.
  • Downtown: A high level overview of the Downtown programme was presented which set out the projects, approaches and timing for the programme – to be completed in time for America’s Cup 2021. A critical part of the project is the dedicated Development Response Programme – which is a wide reaching programme including engagement, wayfinding and business support to minimise the impact of construction and disruption to businesses and the surrounding community.
