An opportunity to lead in Auckland's city centre

News story
Monday 16 Oct 2017

An international social leadership programme with over 200,000 participants in 54 countries is coming to Auckland. Splice is inviting city centre business owners and workers to join this movement with intercultural dialogue and community-led social development at its heart.

Active Citizens provides an opportunity for connectors, leaders, natural organisers or just those who want to make a difference to play a real role in community building within our Auckland city centre urban neighbourhood. The programme will empower participants to take ownership of the city and to take charge in finding solutions for urban issues and maximising the opportunities that come our way.

Bringing together people with different beliefs and perspectives, the programme encourages participants to learn from and share with each other and trains them in the skills and knowledge needed to affect social change in their communities and the wider world.

With community development the main focus of the programme, participants will also find personal and professional development opportunities, with connection to the international alumni group of Active Citizens providing a vast resource for information and best practice. Active Citizens is also an opportunity for building internal staff relations and team-building. With an appreciation for the value of difference and a focus on self-reflection, it allows people to feel safe in their own shoes when discovering differences in other’s viewpoints.

Splice is the delivery partner for New Zealand and they will be launching Active Citizens in 2018, with an information evening being held next month.
