Street maintenance and road closures

Auckland Transport is responsible for keeping our roads and footpaths in good working order and meeting the needs of the city as well as approving private construction works and events that take place in public streets.

Road and footpath maintenance and upgrades

Our city centre roads and footpaths are maintained through both preventative and corrective work to keep them safe, working well and looking tidy.

Auckland Transport posts information about roadworks projects and disruptions on their website and liaises directly with businesses, residents and property owners in the area affected by works so people know what to expect and can plan for access and any impacts.

Find out more about Auckland Transport’s future plans and strategies and have your say on projects currently open for consultation.

Report a problem with a road or footpath

Contact Auckland Transport if you have noticed a footpath or street that needs repairs or attention – you’ll need to let them know the location and details including if the problem could cause injury to someone if left unattended. If the problem is urgent please call Auckland Transport on 09 355 3553.

Construction and events

Private construction works and events can sometimes affect the normal use of public streets and roads. Project managers and event organisers need to get permission from Auckland Transport and to communicate with the affected local community, including businesses, residents and property owners, about their plans.
