Our Waterfront's Future
The future of our waterfront is too important to allow incremental and short term decision making to take place. We want a wider long term view before any further decisions around reclamations in our harbour is made. Perhaps itís too late. Last week Council made a decision to soften their stance on reclamation, however a extraordinary meeting will now take place with a motion to revoke that decision.

Outdoor Trading Charges proposed to almost double in the City Centre
Auckland Council are proposing to double the cost of outdoor dining in the city centre Ė with rental fees proposed to go up to $140/m2 from $70/m2. We support the need to charge for the privilege of using outdoor public space for commercial gain, but are concerned that this does not appear equitable nor support the aspirations of creating a vibrant, business friendly city centre.
