Auckland City turns off the lights

News story
Monday 30 Jun 2008
Auckland City Council reduced the ornamental lighting at several central city locations playing its part to conserve electricity this winter. Due to the increased concern over the country's power supplies, lighting at Viaduct Harbour, Aotea Centre, Freyberg Square and Khartoum place have all been switched off. Street and security lighting remains on to ensure the safety of the public is not compromised.
SKYCITY Auckland is also doing their bit by switching off all lighting on the Sky Tower until further notice.
