This competition is now closed.

Artweek takes place in the city centre from 6 - 14 October 2018. Click here for full event details.

Late Night Art is the jewel in the crown of Artweek in the city centre - one great evening where the galleries are open late and streets and public spaces come alive with thought-provoking art installations and creative curiosities.

We're proud to bring this event to life along with Artweek Auckland and to celebrate we're giving away a two person StreetArtDego street food and art experience worth $100 to one Heart of the City member.

The prize includes two dishes from each of StreetArtDego's five street food vendors so you can enjoy them with a friend. Each dish is paired with a one-night-only art installation.

  • Judge Bao // Ngahuia Harrison
    From the Land and Sea
Inspired by a taste of kai moana, Judge Bao will play homage to the use of steam of cooking in both Maori hangi and Chinese steaming techniques. There will be indigenous Maori ingredients layered into their already imaginative bao creations - pohutukawa smoked mussels, agria, horopito fish cake and crispy seaweed.
  • The Pie Piper // Last Tapes Theatre Company
    Tequila Sunrise
Broken Down Glam 1970s spin. Taking a classic 70's cocktail and turning into a pie and donut.
    Perfomances at 6pm and 8pm
  • Wiseboys // Hanna Shim
    Headless/Heartless
Flying without wings — Fried ‘chicken’ on a bed of creamy slaw, topped with pickles and spicy chipotle all on a toasted bun.
  • The Rolling Pin // La Lumiere
    Enlightenment
The Rolling Pin will serve a series of 'food illusions' in response to the light art. 'Caviar' (sweet soya caviar) appear as tiny light bulbs to garnish the dumplings plus a manuka smoked chilli tuile cascading across the dumplings like the curtain of light falling down the water feature at Te Ha O Hine.
  • Lowbrow. // Angus Muir Design
    Distort
Lowbrow's infamous fried chicken is re-invigorated in response to Angus Muir's diffused, pixelated light box installations. The light art will include bitmaps of chicken, abstracted by zooming and blurring the imagery.
