Aotea Square re-development update

News story
Thursday 8 Oct 2009
There have been various access changes around Aotea Square and the Civic car park that will impact on people who work or visit buildings surrounding the Square.
Bledisloe walkway
The Bledisloe walkway to the Aotea Square has been blocked off with construction hoardings, just before the Bledisloe pedestrian stairwell. There will still be access to THE EDGE and the temporary staircase (on the Bledisloe end of Aotea Centre). However, access between Queen Street and Bledisloe House will be via SkyCity Metro. Directional signs will help guide you through these new routes.
Mayoral Drive entrance to the Civic car park
The entrance and exit ramp to the Civic car park from Mayoral Drive will be closed until the end of February 2010. Entry and exit to the car park will be via Greys Avenue only. Mobility parking bays are available on all levels of the car park.
Bledisloe pedestrian stairwell
The Bledisloe pedestrian stairwell will be closed for landscaping until the end of January 2010. Access from all three levels of the car park to this stairwell will also be blocked off during this time.
Other stairwells leading to the Civic car park will remain open – the Civic pedestrian stairwell, Town Hall pedestrian stairwell, SkyCity Metro stairwell.
For mobility access to and from the car park, please use the lifts at Aotea Centre, SkyCity Metro and the Auckland Town Hall
