Art Week in the BIG little City
The annual Art Week runs from Friday 26 October until Sunday 4 November, with the BIG little City forming the hub for the event.
Key components of the BIG little City activations include:
Unlocked Collections
We have worked to include a number of our professional services members in Art Week by securing exclusive access to their private art collections for a series of public tours, the Unlocked Collections. These have proven so popular that the tours are all fully booked. Click here to find out more about the Unlocked Collections.
Commissioned Works
Art Week is a great vehicle through which we can build the overall sense
of place and vitality in the City Centre. One way we have worked to do this is by commissioning new works for the city. The Mid-City steps and the wall behind Brooklyn Bar now host striking new pieces of street art which have been subject to lots of positive public feedback.

Guided tours helping people to discover the city's wonderful public art, there are a range of Art Walks showcasing different areas and types of art. The Waterfront and Britomart Walk shows off the sculpture along the shoreline, the Street Art Walk brings to light some unseen gems as well as our newly commissioned works, the Walk of Fashion takes in installations in fashion boutique windows created in collaboration between artists and designers, and the Queen Street Valley walk takes a look at indoor and outdoor works from the Auckland Art Gallery at the top of the town down to Fort Street.
