City Centre Development Update
Auckland Council are currently working on a raft of development projects in the city centre, transforming our public places into better versions of themselves. These developments are part of Council’s ten year City Centre Master Plan, and are funded from the CBD targeted rate.
Down on the waterfront, Shed 10’s Cruise Terminal construction has resumed, with the project due to be completed in June. Work on the Westhaven promenade and cycleway, part of the wider Westhaven Plan for development, is scheduled to start late this year.
Final design work is underway for the planned upgrades of both Federal and O’Connell Streets, with works scheduled to commence in the second half of this year. Khartoum Place is also scheduled for an upgrade, which will open up the space between Lorne St and the Auckland Art Gallery. This is also due to commence later this year.
