City Centre September Quarter Spending Up 8.9%

Spending and transactions continue to increase year on year in the City Centre. For the September Quarter,  HOTC merchants was up 8.9%, and transactions up 18.6% year on year. By comparison, our competitors spending was up 6.5%, and transactions 5.8%. The number of merchants also rose by 12.5%. 


Origin of Spending

In the September quarter, 65.8% of spend came from Aucklanders, 16% from the Rest of NZ and 18.2% from International. Spending from Aucklanders was up +17% year on year. Within Auckland, 36.1% of the spending came from within the old Auckland City Council limits. Papakura has shown the biggest growth year on year, up 61% from last year - though still a very small 1.1% of total spending.



Category Breakdown

Heart of the City saw some good results for a number of categories this quarter when compared to competitors. The highest spending growth in the September Quarter was fashion, up 24.5% year on year, followed closely by  Health and Beauty (24.2%) and Attractions (23.6%).
