A Day in the Life of the BIG little City

News story
Wednesday 14 Nov 2012

Our most recent BIG little City initiative is a digital video celebrating the city centre as a dynamic, urban and unique destination.

'A Day In the Life of the BIG little City' takes people on a journey of the central city – showcasing the people, places and unique culture that has made Auckland one of the most liveable cities in the world. From the Waterfront, through Britomart, High Street District, the Arts Precinct, Queen Street, City West and Victoria Park, the clip shows a fresh and vibrant perspective on all aspects of Auckland’s central city, with an emphasis on the diverse cultural disposition and individuality of the people that are proud to call Auckland home.

HOTCity CEO Alex Swney says, "This is the city’s ever changing face, a glimpse of the city’s evolving story and the breadth of our offering from the grit of the back streets, to the beautiful theatres, the boutique shops, the bars, and international dining scene, the food, the shopping and its heritage. It’s authentic and for this reason it engenders a great sense of pride for our city.”

The video, released on Monday 12 November, has so far been viewed more than 18,000 times on youtube and facebook. It is also being played on the screens in the Inner City Link Bus, so is reaching thousands of people daily through this channel.
