Increased Network of Free Wi-Fi in City

News story
Thursday 14 Feb 2013

Auckland Council is working with Wi-Fi provider TomiZone to increase the area of the free high speed wireless zone in Auckland's central city.

The network is currently found in public spaces, on public transport and in council-owned facilities; specifically, Aotea Square, North Wharf, Queen Street, Queens Wharf, Viaduct Harbour, Wynyard Quarter, Britomart Train Station and 38 Link buses.

The most recent part of the expansion project sees cooperation with the University of Auckland to provide a seamless connection between the Council and University’s networks. This is part of a larger project to expand the area of connectivity in all public places across the city centre by April this year.

We will continue to update you with the status of the City Centre Wi-Fi expansion project as it progresses over the coming weeks.
