Queen Street Fan Trail Information

News story
Tuesday 16 Aug 2011

The Fan Trail is a 4.5km walking route from Queen Elizabeth Square in the city centre to Eden Park, via Queen Street, Aotea Square, Myers Park, K’Road, Great North Road and Bond Street.

The Fan Trail will be activated on Eden Park match days to encourage fans to walk to the stadium as an alternative means of transport.

Activation is on the right hand side of the road only (heading towards Eden Park) and includes live performances, roving entertainers, face painting, refreshment stops and special installations.

In the CBD, Queen Elizabeth Square and Aotea Square will be ‘activated hubs’, whilst roving entertainers will be located along the western side of Queen Street.

Similar fan walks have been popular at other major international sporting events, and we expect Auckland’s to be just as successful.

Activation of the Fan Trail will commence at 5pm on all Eden Park match days (except on 25 September when activation starts at 12 noon).

The Fan Trail is a one-hour brisk walk, but we are encouraging fans to take a couple of hours so they can fully enjoy all the action and entertainment, and the retail businesses along the way.

We’ll be delivering more detailed information to you soon, but in the meantime we encourage you to have a think about how you can get into the spirit of the Fan Trail, for example, by decorating your premises in team colours.

Access to your businesses will remain at all times.
