Road Closures - Quay Street - Sept/October
Auckland Council and Government are putting enhanced plans in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment during the RWC 2011 from this Friday 16 September.
Additional match viewing capacity and associated servicing will be provided on Captain Cook Wharf (to the east of Queens Wharf) if required.
A road closure will be in place on Quay Street between Britomart Place and Lower Hobson Street and feeder streets (Lower Albert, Lower Hobson, Tyler Street, Gore Street and Commerce Street between Customs Street and Quay Street) to enhance movement and pedestrian safety for the following dates, as detailed in the letter attached to this e-letter:
- Midday Fri 16 - 11.30pm, Sunday 18 Sept
- Midday Friday 23 - 11.30pm Sunday 25 Sept
- Midday Fri 30 Sept - 11.30pm Sunday 2 Oct
- Midday Friday 7 - 6am Monday 10 Oct
- Midday Fri 14 - 6am Monday 17 Oct
- Midday Friday 21 - 6am Monday 24 Oct
Access will be maintained to waterfront homes, businesses and off-street parking where possible through marshalled entry points at Lower Hobson Street and the eastern end of Quay Street. Enhanced facilities and safety measures will be in place along Quay Street to cater for possible crowds.
