Three 'Shared Spaces' now open

News story
Monday 15 Aug 2011

The work to transform Elliott Street, Lorne Street & Fort Street is complete, and will see slow vehicle speed, pedestrian-priority zones create a vibrant, world-class city centre that attracts people and business.

Popular in many overseas cities, shared spaces are relatively new to these shores and involve merging the footpath and road by removing kerbs and road markings, so people and vehicles can share the space. These openings follow the opening of the Darby Street shared space earlier this year.

Don’t miss out on the following events which showcase our newest shared space streets.
