Upcoming Major Events = More Visitors

Summer is in full swing which means a lot of great events are heading our way in the coming weeks, increasing visitors number and opportunities for our hospitality and retail businesses. On the weekend 31 Jan-1 Feb, the
Dick Smith NRL Auckland Nines returns to Eden Park, last year's event brought 68,000 extra visitor nights to the city. The city also hosts some of the
ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 matches in February, and there will be
Fan Zones at Aotea Square and Britomart throughout the competition.
The always popular Auckland Lantern Festival is back in Albert Park 26 Feb - 1 March, bringing significant pedestrian numbers to the city. The Ports of Auckland Round the Bays, which consists of an 8.4km running course from the Auckland CBD to St Heliers Bay, will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015. This event usually draws 40,000 participants. And on 28 & 29 March, the Barfoot & Thompson ITU World Triathlon Auckland returns to the heart of Auckland City on Queens Wharf.
