Space exploration and flight takes centre stage in Glasgow-born artist Jill Kennedy’s Eyes on the Moon, whether it is shuttle launches, satellite orbits, or soccer balls arcing through the air. In a similar manner to her previous New Educational Series, this exhibition sees Kennedy playing with our expectations of ‘correct’ scale. Using found graphic material, Kennedy applies a collage-like approach to digital juxtapositions that cause rockets to cruise through plant tendrils and the woven knots of macramé baskets, while views are shifted from domestic television coverage to satellite transmissions, and even a feline perspective of nano proportions. As with her earlier animations, accompanying music by John Payne completes Kennedy’s creation of an all-encompassing kaleidoscopic world.
