BIG SCREEN COMING TO AOTEA SQUARE

News story
Thursday 23 Sep 2010

Higher sound levels are required for some big screen events to ensure that those attending can clearly hear sports commentary, a speech or film dialogue throughout the main audience area of the square.

Currently the council’s central area district plan allows for sound levels of up to 65 decibels. The council is proposing to increase this to 85 decibels for a maximum of 45 screen events in Aotea Square each year. Sound levels will be monitored by a sound limiting device and will not be able to exceed the proposed limits.

On Saturday, 25 September, an open day will be held in the Aotea Centre, Limelight Room from 10am to noon. Come along to find out more about the proposal.

Please submit your feedback online by clicking on this link. www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/council/projects/aoteasquare/construction.asp.

Consultation period starts on Friday, 24 September. Feedback closes Sunday, 10 October 2010.

Thank you in advance.
