CBD Street Upgrades currently in progress

We thought that we would take this opportunity to remind you of some of the other CBD street upgrades currently underway.

Elliott Street Upgrade - Work to transform Elliott Street into a shared space will began on Monday 28 March, with the first phase of work underway until Mid August 2011. To allow the works to take place, the street will be closed to all general traffic between Wellesley Street and up to Darby Street from Monday 28 March till Monday 15 August. Pedestrian access will be maintained, and businesses will continue to be open throughout the works.

Lorne Street Stage 2 - The area of Lorne Street directly in front of the Central City Library (between Wellesley Street and Rutland Street) is currently being upgraded. The work is scheduled for completion in August 2011.

Fort Street - Six streets in the Fort Street area are being transformed. These are Fort Street, Fort Lane, Jean Batten Place, Gore and Commerce streets (between Fort and Customs streets) and Shortland Street (between Queen Street and Jean Batten Place). The first stage of work will be completed in mid August 2011.

Kitchener Street - To compliment the Auckland Art Gallery development, Kitchener Street between Wellesley Street and Khartoum Place are being transformed. The redevelopments will be completed in time for the re-opening of the Auckland Art Gallery.
