Proposed improvements to CBD and central bus services

News story
Monday 28 Mar 2011

Auckland Transport is proposing significant changes to bus services around the Auckland CBD and surrounding suburbs to make them quicker and easier to use by improving the frequency, reliability, comfort and connectivity of the services.

Key changes proposed include

  • Replacing the City Circuit with an Inner City Service that runs every five minutes from Karangahape Rd, along Queen St to Britomart, with every secondbus continuing to Wynyard Quarter on the waterfront. A fare would be charged on this service.
  • A new outer loop bus that goes via Britomart, and connects areas like Parnell, Mt Eden, St Lukes and Herne Bay.
  • Introduction of high quality buses similar to the LINK for the new routes and investigating options for introducing the latest technology hybrid-electric buses that can operate well in the hilly Auckland CBD.

Heart of the City will be making a submission on the proposed changes focusing on the quality of the services, and the proposed fare for the new Inner City Service. If you want us to consider your views as part of our submission process then please contact us via email info@hotcity.co.nz

Alternatively, feedback on the proposed changes can be provided direct to Auckland Transport by Friday 15 April 2011 here...
