Marketview Results for June Quarter, 2012

Consumer spending results for the June Quarter from BNZ Marketview.

Results summary:

Spending over the June quarter for HOTC is improved with an increase of 8.0%. This increase is matched by a 2.4% increase in transactions.

Year on Year results for the year end June saw an increase in spending in HOTC by 5.6%. These 12 month results sees HOTC slightly out perform its competitors who remain steady with a 0.1% decrease.

The June quarter performed well in terms of market share. HOTC is up 2.2%, this is one base point higher than the HOTC’s 12 month measure.



Key Retail category performance:

HOTCity’s growth is largely coming from discretionary spending categories.
Food – we strongly performed our competitors in this area, experiencing a growth of 10.2%, this growth and above the national food in the quarter.
Apparel – spending on Apparel at HOTC retailers increased substantially (11.5%), exceeding that of our competitors and the national average
Bars and Cafes – spending at HOTC Bars, Cafes, and Restaurants is up 10.5% in the June Quarter, again exceeding both competitors and the national average.
