Hotel DeBrett

Nestled within the old-world charm of Auckland’s High Street – just minutes from the bustle of the Britomart, lower Queen Street and Auckland’s iconic waterfront – lies the delightfully Art Deco styled Hotel DeBrett.

Stylishly designed, all 25 rooms have a distinct personality, stitched together by a velvety custom-made carpet striped with shades of burgundy, black, sky blue and yellow.  A chic mix of super king size beds, mid-century modern furniture and New Zealand art, fused with contemporary comforts have been designed to tickle the senses.

In the public areas, Hand-spun copper chandeliers bounce warm light off raw brick walls, while a thin and funky log-burning fire invites guests to stop and reflect on the building’s illustrious history. Much of the charm of Hotel DeBrett, one of Auckland’s oldest hotels, has been preserved. The wood-panelled Housebar pays homage to the hotel’s Art Deco glory days, a beautiful meeting place, serving classically inspired cocktails and superb New Zealand wines from midday until the early hours.

The soaring glass-roof atrium is great to dine under, especially complemented by the simple, elegant food served at DeBretts Kitchen, where menus are seasonal, creative and attuned to local produce.  Open daily for breakfast, lunch, dinner and nightcaps.  Each weekend a 1920’s-inspired high tea shimmies in, complete with prohibition cocktails and faux pearls.

And if it's a taste of local you're after; why not check out Cornerbar, an Aucklander’s favourite. Serving an enviable list of locally sourced craft beers and New Zealand wines coupled with warm, friendly service and a touch of kiwi retro.
