Christmas 2020 has arrived in the city centre

News story
Thursday 12 Nov 2020

Christmas is always an important trading period for retail and hospitality, and this year even more so.

This week we have installed Christmas decorations through the city centre - including new illuminated decorations by Angus Muir Design along Queen Street with matching flag banners in a number of areas and lighting on the Farmers building - take a look at an image gallery at heartofthecity.co.nz here.

Our Christmas campaign encouraging and inspiring Aucklanders to shop and celebrate in the city centre will be launching at the end of November - in the mean time, those planning their Christmas shopping are encouraged to start with our shopping guide, with picks for Queen Street, Commercial Bay, the High Street District and Britomart – there’s something in the city centre for every budget, gifter, and recipient.

Some of you may be wondering about giant Santa's retirement plans after we announced last year would be his last on Queen Street. We're happy to let you know that we’ve found a great retirement home for him and he’ll be making the journey there from the 18th November. All will be revealed soon!
