Making a difference to the street community: what's next for Street Guardians

News story
Tuesday 11 Dec 2018

At the beginning of October, we set out on a pilot programme in response to businesses wanting to see begging addressed in our city centre.Over six weeks, more than 35 members of the city centre street community got involved in a weekly opportunity to spend a day with community organisations: beaches were cleaned up, planter boxes were built, bikes were fixed and trees were planted.

The outcome of the pilot - and the responses we've received from participants, the community organisations and supporters - has been overwhelming.

The future of Street Guardians

We’re so excited to be able to confirm that we are planning on bringing Street Guardians back in 2019. We’re just working on a few of the details and look forward to sharing more information in the new year.

Thank you

The Street Guardians pilot wouldn’t have happened without the support our partnership with Auckland City Mission, the support of Colliers, Lifewise, Precinct Properties, Scarecrow, SKYCITY and Tomorrow Inc, and our community organisations Kelmarna Gardens, Sustainable Coastlines, The Pallet Kingdom, The Tipping Point, and Waiheke Resources Trust. Thank you all!
