Your reminders for a safe summer in the city

As we head into the summer and festive season, ensuring the city centre remains a vibrant, enjoyable and safe place for people is top of mind. Here’s a reminder about who to contact if you have any concerns about safety in the city this summer. 

If you are worried about behaviour that is causing a public nuisance but is not illegal, including synthetic cannabis use, obstruction of the footpath or intimidating begging, you can request assistance from CityWatch. Funded by Heart of the City and Auckland Council, CityWatch helps ensure that Aucklanders and visitors can freely enjoy public spaces by enforcing the Public Safety and Nuisance Bylaw.

If you have any concerns about anyone who is presenting a risk to themselves or others, including people affected by drugs or alcohol, or if a crime has occurred, contact the police. You may notice an increased police presence in the city over the coming weeks with a focus on preventing crime and enforcing the city centre alcohol ban.
