Food and Hygiene Bylaw Review

News story
Wednesday 26 Sep 2012

Auckland Council is currently conducting a review of the food and hygiene bylaws it inherited from the legacy councils pre-Super City.

They would like feedback from food service and hospitality businesses around the following issues:

• Grading systems including the range of grades issues (including the use of a "gold A” or similar grade, and the use of a "C” grade or not);

• Training requirements for staff of food premises (which could be linked to the requirements to achieve a particular grade);

• Closure of premises;

• Requirements for businesses involved in food utensil hire; and

• Requirements for sale of food to offices and businesses (bun running).

Formal consultation on the development ofthe new bylaw is expected to occur in February to March 2013 which will provide another opportunity to provide further comment and feedback.
