How to get your business involved in the 2011 NZ Fashion Festival

News story
Wednesday 8 Dec 2010

After a successful launch earlier this year, the New Zealand Fashion Festival will be back for 2011.

Held over a 5 day period between 21-26 March 2011, and produced by the team from NZ Fashion Week, the New Zealand Fashion Festival will provide a series of group fashion shows nightly at Shed 6 in Rhubarb Lane (Think NZ Fashion Week mixed in with your local favourites and high street brands), beauty seminars, a marketing breakfast, young designer awards and the Super City Programme – an extensive programme of free to attend activities around the city. Nightly shows at Rhubarb Lane are ticketed events and bring together a different mix of designers and retail outlets to give the public a real feel of being part of the shows that they can't see at Fashion Week – it's definitely not about being in the front row – it's just a matter of getting a ticket!. Tickets to the fashion shows will be available for the public to purchase in January 2011 from iTICKET.

And the best part about the 2011 NZ Fashion Festival is you don't have to be a fashion designer to get involved. The new Super City Programme which will be introduced to the 2011 festival, means that any retailer, restaurant, bar or business who holds an event, fashion show, exhibition or seminar between 21-26 March 2011 can be part of the NZ Fashion Festival and promote their event and business in the NZ Fashion Festival Guide. The guide will be produced and distributed by the NZ Herald on the 7th March 2011.

Super City Programme co-ordinator, Pam Walker, is on hand to help businesses come up with interesting and quirky ideas for events and promotions. Here is an example of some possible ideas:

  • In-store fashion shows with extra in-store incentives
  • Fashion oriented art at galleries or restaurants
  • Fashion Festival signature dishes or cocktails at bars and restaurants
  • Styling sessions with in-store designers
  • Fashion and lifestyle books on display at book stores
  • Inviting celebrities in-store to meet and greet guests
  • Designer hosted garden party lunches
  • Beauty and fashion make-overs
  • DJ's, musicians, or performers in-store for shoppers to enjoy
  • Free drink at a bar if Fashion Festival ticket is shown

Contact Pam Walker from the Fashion Festival on 021 466 726 or pam@nzfashionfestival.com. The deadline for providing information on your event is Friday 28th January 2011. Please note there is a cost to be listed in the guide.
