The New Bus Network – Proposed Changes for the City Centre

News story
Tuesday 29 Sep 2015

More people now commute into the city by public transport by car, however faced with increasing congestion on the city’s road network it’s vital that there is a public transport network that is efficient, effective and most importantly works well so that it is an attractive choice for people to use, freeing up the road network for essential vehicle use, particularly to service business.

Over the next two months, Auckland Transport wants to hear your views about specific changes to the bus network for the central suburbs, including the city centre. These proposed changes are part of the New Network, a region-wide public transport network that will include Frequent, Connector, Local and Peak services and aims to create a new, better connected transport network across the region. The Frequent Network will have buses and trains at least every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. The New Network will be place by 2017 until the completion of the CRL or if Light Rail is introduced – after which revisions to the network will be required.

There are a number of consultation sessions on the New Network planned over the next two months. Sessions in the City Centre include:

Consultation sessions on the new network

  • Wednesday 7 October: 11am to 2pm, AUT City Campus, Hikuwai Plaza
  • Thursday 8 October: 11am to 2pm, Auckland University City Campus Quad
