Waihorotiu Station is tipped to become the busiest train station in the country upon the completion of the City Rail Link. After it has been finished, construction will begin on the Symphony Centre over-station development and is expected to be complete by 2028.

Eke Panuku Development Auckland is partnering with international property developer Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB) who, with experienced local development and project management company RCP will deliver The Symphony Centre.

This residential mixed-use development will be built on a 4780sqm site, previously an Auckland Council car park at the corner of Wellesley St and Mayoral Drive.  It will be transformed into Auckland’s first true mixed-use building, with around 60 apartments, commercial and retail space, a public plaza leading out to Aotea Square, and easy connections to Aotea Station below. It will also be the catalyst for bringing Auckland’s mid-town to life, with an innovative, mixed-use, transport-orientated development that merges cultural narratives of local iwi with the latest in sustainable architecturally striking design.

The Symphony Centre is currently in the planning phase. Keep up to date with its progress here. Conceptual drawings are from Woods Bagot.

Bledisloe House
The Symphony Center developers MRCB are also reviving Bledisloe House, which is next door to the Symphony Centre. It's hoped that the redevelopment of Bledisloe House will get underway in early 2025 and be completed by 2028.

Once finished, it will be 13,000 square metres of premium office space, communal green areas, boutique retail and hospitality. In an interview with Stuff, RCP Director acting on behalf of MRCB, Cristean Monreal said the intention for the ground floor of Bledisloe House is an "Amano-esque offering - it will be coffee to cocktails for the workforce using the train." and "It would cement the area as an arts district, providing transport and food options for people visiting The Civic, Q Theatre, Aotea Centre or Town Hall".  More information is here
