City Rail Link overview and support available for businesses

The City Rail Link (CRL) is an underground rail line linking Britomart and the city centre with the existing western line near Mt Eden. Work in the city centre is focused in and around Britomart and Albert/Victoria Street plus Karangahape works adjacent to the heart of the city area.

CRL will greatly improve access to the city centre and will increase the capacity and speed of Auckland’s entire train network.

The target completion date for the project is 2025 and is expected to be operational in 2026.

Small Business Support Programme (SBSP)

Link Alliance’s Small Business Support Programme (SBSP) has been designed to support small businesses in the city centre areas (Te Waihorotiu Station and Karanga-a-Hape Station construction sites).

The SBSP provides an independent business connector for businesses to help identify their needs and to provide individualised, free, accessible support and specialist services.

Further information, including eligibility criteria and the application process, is available here.

Targeted Hardship Fund (THF)
A Targeted Hardship Fund has been established to support small businesses experiencing genuine hardship from major and sustained City Rail Link (CRL) construction disruption surrounding the Te Wai Horotiu Station (Aotea), Karanga a Hape Station (Karangahape) and Maungawhau Station (Mt Eden) sites (within the C3 Affected Area)

More information about the THF eligibility, including assessment criteria and information on how to apply can be found here.
