The Royal New Zealand Navy is celebrating 75 years

From 16 November to 22 November, Auckland will host the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) 75th Anniversary International Naval Review.

This will involve up to 12 New Zealand and international naval ships arriving at the Ports of Auckland to mark this significant event. An entertaining line up of events has been planned around the Ports of Auckland communal wharves, The Cloud, Queens Wharf, Queen Street, Wynyard Wharf and Aotea Square. 

As a prelude to the International Naval Review, the RNZN Band will perform to the public on lower Queen Street in front of the Britomart Transport Centre on 9 November from 11.30am-1.30pm and 14 November from 7am-9am.

Thursday 16 November - Ship arrivals. The ships will be berthing at different times during the day, starting from 5am and finishing at around 3pm. The RNZN Band will provide a ceremonial welcome at each wharf.

CANCELLED- Friday 18 November - 1000 Sailor Street March. Three marching bands, interspersed with platoons from all participating navies, will march from Aotea Square at 11.30am, led by the RNZN Guard of Honour and New Zealand contingent, ending at Queens Wharf at 12.30pm.

Friday 18 November to Sunday 20 November – Naval exhibition in The Cloud. Open to the public for viewing, 10am-4pm each day.

Saturday 19 November - Naval Review on Waitemata Harbour. From 1pm-2.30pm. Her Excellency the Governor General, on-board HMNZS OTAGO, will review a number of the naval ships at anchor in Waitemata Harbour. The ships will be dressed with ceremonial pennants and the ships' companies lined up in full ceremonial uniforms. The RNZN Band and Royal Guard of Honour will be in attendance at Queens Wharf.

International Naval Review and ships' open day road closure Saturday 19 November-Sunday 20 November 2016

Brigham Street and Hamer Street will be closed from 8am Friday 18 November until 7pm Sunday 20 November 2016. Vehicle access for Sealink customers will be maintained.

Sunday 20 November - Ships' open day on Auckland's waterfront. A number of naval ships berthed at Ports of Auckland wharves will be open to the public for viewing from 10am-4pm. There will be a display of NZDF equipment on the breastwork between Queens Wharf and Captain Cook Wharf. 

The RNZN Band, Royal Marine Band, Chilean Navy Cadet Band, Indonesian Navy Cadet Band, RNZA Band and the RNZN Pipes and Drums Band will be performing at different times during the Open Day at Queens Wharf, Lower Queen Street, Precinct Area and Te Wero area.
