Join us for American Express Restaurant Month, returning to the Heart of the City from 1 - 31 August 2018
Auckland's biggest dining event is back for its eighth year and once again showcases the best of the city centre’s restaurant scene across 31 days of memorable foodie experiences.
American Express Restaurant Month is exclusive to the central city and is FREE for Heart of the City members.
Promotion and Partners
The event is promoted via Heart of the City during the key campaign period of winter and has delivered consistently great results in terms of awareness, increased dining activity and increased spending in restaurants.
American Express continue to support the event and the restaurant industry with their ongoing sponsorship. This year, they will be encouraging high-spending card members to dine out more often at venues that accept American Express during the month, with a ‘Spend and Get’ offer.
How You Can Take Part
You can participate simply by providing a special menu offer for the month of August or by hosting and staging an event.
Menus must be received by 25 May.
Special menu requirements
- In one of the set price categories of $25, $40 or $55+
- Good value and exclusive to American Express Restaurant Month
- Available for the whole of August. Businesses open for dinner must offer a dinner menu first, lunch is an optional extra
- Dine-in only
- A minimum of 2 courses (with a maximum of 3 options per course)
- Include one (1) drink match (see below for details)
- Priced on per person basis
- Can be included in the menu set price or listed as a separate recommendation
- Must be a drink from one of our American Express Restaurant Month Official Wine Partners: Negociants NZ or Pernod Ricard NZ, or non-alcoholic beverage Menu Partner S. Pellegrino & Acqua Panna, which has an exciting range of sparkling fruit beverages available

Staff and Restaurant Rewards
Front of house staff play a huge part in an enjoyable restaurant experience and to help encourage wait staff knowledge around what is on offer in their restaurant during American Express Restaurant Month, Heart of the City will be running an incentive program to recognise and reward staff who are knowledgeable and actively promoting the event to their customers.
