The Reactivating Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Support Package
To help stimulate the local Auckland economy, the Government has announced The Reactivating Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Support Package. It totals $25.5 million and has been put together by Auckland Council and Auckland Unlimited.
The package aims to encourage Aucklanders to reconnect with the region and stimulate the local economy this summer. This includes a voucher and discounts programme for Aucklanders to enjoy experiences and attractions in the region to local activations that support and promote free community events.

Attraction and activity businesses in Auckland are supported via one of the key components of the package -the Explore Tāmaki Makaurau this summer programme.
Explore Tāmaki Makaurau this summer programme: the details
- Attraction and activity operators who would like to take part will need to opt into the programme.
- The programme has $12 million allocated to it.
- This money will be used to fund vouchers and discounts from businesses that have opted to take part in the programme.
Voucher and discount details:
Aucklanders will be able to register their interest in receiving a voucher from 15 December 2021. Auckland Unlimited will ensure they are distributed fairly and will be allocating them via an online platform from mid-January 2022. The vouchers will be redeemable until the end of April 2022.

Other components of the Reactivating Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Support Package, include:
- $10 million is being allocated to the Local Activation Programme. This contestable fund has been created to support summer programming for business associations, mana whenua and community groups, cultural organisations and event organisers. - $2.5 million for a promotional and marketing campaign by Auckland Unlimited to promote the two programmes, as well as encourage visitors from both the region and further afield.
