Smith and Caughey’s news is great news for the future of Queen Street

Heart of the City is delighted that Smith and Caughey’s has decided to keep their Queen Street store operating.

Viv Beck, Heart of the City’s Chief Executive says that “The news from Smith and Caughey’s today of their decision to keep their Queen Street store open is fantastic. This is an iconic retail destination for the city centre. People from all walks of life have expressed sadness about its possible closure and this news will be warmly received. We’re also delighted at the confidence that this portrays for the future of Queen Street”.

Beck says that “The news that 100 staff will be continuing to work at the Queen Street store is heartening, and its good news for those suppliers that will provide for the revised offering. We look forward to many more Christmas windows ahead.”
