A new place for health and social change in the city

News story
Tuesday 20 Feb 2018

A new Rongoā garden brings traditional Māori healing knowledge, growing techniques and culture into the city centre at Griffiths Garden, with a guiding metaphor of ‘Te Puawai o te Kakano’, or a ‘blossoming seed’.

The garden is a shared vision between Awhina Mai Tatou Katoa – a social change initiative founded by the homeless for their street whanau - and For the Love of Bees. Created in partnership with mana whenua Ngāti Whātua ki Orakei, the garden will allow the kaitiakitanga practices of Rongoā to be shared with the community.

This project has been enabled by The Waitematā Local Board and the Auckland Design Office.

See here for more information about how For the Love of Bees and Awhina Mai Tatou Katoa work together.
