Consultation open on Wellesley Street & Queen Street Bus Infrastructure Changes

News story
Wednesday 17 Feb 2021

Consultation is now open for proposed changes in the Wellesley Street and Queen Street area to accommodate the shift of buses back to Wellesley Street. Changes need to take place ahead of the closure of Victoria/Albert Street and reopening of Wellesley Street/Albert Street in the middle of the year. The proposal includes the introduction of additional and extended bus stops, and the removal and/or relocation of loading zones. It's important that businesses take the opportunity to review and provide comment on these plans.

We would have liked to see the engagement for the Wellesley and Queen Street bus changes integrated into the overall approach for Queen Street so there is a clearer picture of how access, including loading, is supported in a coordinated way.  We have raised the serious issue of the planned removal of loading zones in Wellesley Street - between Albert Street and Queen Street (we note this is not currently included in the consultation material) - with no current plan for replacement or relocation.

Find out more and give feedback on the bus changes here. Consultation closes on 26 February.

If you have any questions or thoughts on these projects - please contact Tania Loveridge.
