Improving High Street - next steps and installation

News story
Friday 4 Oct 2019

Following feedback and design input from High Street District community, the first stage of the High Street Pilot Project is being installed over this weekend and will be completed by Tuesday 15 October- just in time for Late Night Art!

The project will trial changes to the street to support an improved environment for pedestrians, better loading in the area and generally making it a great place to be as well as supporting business.

The project focuses on improving the street environment in a way that is consistent with a ‘lighter, quicker, cheaper' approach - meaning minimal disruption to business. The changes will be incremental, tested and involve the community.

A 'co-design' process with the High Street community and the feedback received so far has helped shape the trial. The trial will last over a 12 month period, and feedback given on the first stage will help confirm what the rest of the street will look like.
