Call for sponsors for a special 2021 public art trail

News story
Tuesday 4 Feb 2020

A truly immersive experience celebrating Aotearoa, art, and marine conservation is coming to Auckland and the city centre in February 2021.

Led by WWF-New Zealand, Wild in Art (UK) and Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED), Whale Tales is a public art trail exploring the City of Sails - just in time for the America's cCup.

Whale Tales, inspired by the endangered Bryde's Whale and designed by emerging and leading New Zealand artists, will adorn Auckland's streets, parks, and open spaces for 10 weeks. Each will tell an individual tale and highlighting marine conservation.

In May, these beautiful sculptures will be auctioned and the proceeds will go to WWF-New Zealand for its vital conservation work for the restoration and protection of our Ocean, supporting environmental innovation, combating climate change and safeguarding our future.

City centre businesses are invited to get involved as sponsors of the art trail, bringing more beautiful whale tails to the city centre - and helping to spread the story of marine conservation work.

If you are interested in sponsoring a sculpture, contact Carl Jackson at cjackson@wwf.org.nz
